Top trending colors in 2024

Global color trend forecasters used cultural and creative zeitgeists to anticipate the palettes that will be popular in the upcoming year, and it appears that 2024 will be a very bold year for life.

Experts in color analysis anticipate a significant increase in people's adventurous color selections, with vivid pinks, lively aqua tones, and deep browns leading the way.

Neutrals will always be in style, of course, but they are getting warmer as blush and buttery tones become more fashionable. Experts all concur that in the upcoming years, color will become more individualized than before.

As a language, color is fundamental to one's ability to express oneself, according to Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. While some people will go toward bright hues, others will prefer gentler neutrals and peaceful pastels. There are no rules; instead, it actually depends on how one is feeling and what is popular at the time.

Our surroundings' color choices naturally influence how we feel and convey who we are. It eventually comes down to personal opinion when it comes to choosing the ideal shade to dress in or paint your walls. According to color experts, these seven color trends will rule in 2024 for those who are willing to take the colorful plunge.

1- Back to Blue

According to Wadden, colors will transition from lush tones to lighter, more watery hues in late 2024 and early 2025. Upward, light denim blue with gray overtones was named Sherwin-Williams' official color of the year as a result of this change.

Blue Nova, Benjamin Moore's color of the year, blurs the distinction between blue and violet by looking at the sky. Director of Color Marketing and Development Andrea Magno stated during a press conference,

Renew Blue, a midtone blue-green, was recently chosen as the color of the year by Valspar, solidifying the trend toward blue tones that are more lively. Furthermore, in keeping with its fresh and adaptable theme, C2 Paint chose the aqua shade Thermal as its color of the year.

2- Alluring purples

Although working with purples can seem a little daunting, experts advise that the hue is incredibly adaptable. According to Pressman, "intriguing purples and lilacs" encourage individuals to stand out and take more chances with color.

Wadden continues, "The upcoming year will also see a rise in popularity for more subdued, softer purple shades." The reason is that, depending on the shade of purple, they go well with pinks, blues, and greens, giving vibrancy or depth.

Benjamin Moore highlights Hazy Lilac as one of the hues in their Color Trends 2024 palette, further emphasizing the complementary nature of purple.

3- Dark Side

On the other hand, deep and rich hues will be crucial in counteracting the light and brilliant tones that will be prevalent in the coming year. The colors range from fascinating blacks and rich chocolate browns to deep navy and forest greens.

Cracked Pepper, Behr's color of the year, honors the classic appeal of black colors. However, York Wallcoverings selected the stylish Bay Brown as their preferred color for 2024 due to its cozy and welcoming characteristics.

4-Pinks and Reds

The coming year will see Barbie maintain her wealthy reign over culture. Vibrant pink hues that evoke nostalgia and optimism are predicted to continue to gain popularity by Sherwin-Williams, Dunn-Edwards, and Pantone. As seen by the British paint and wallpaper firm Little Greene, who named the soft pink neutral Masquerade as their color of the year, blush and baby pink hues will also continue to be popular.

In 2024, pinky peaches will also be popular. As its color of the year, Pantone declared Peach Fuzz to be a romantic tint that reminds people to take it leisurely and enjoy one other's company.

The director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, Sue Wadden, predicts that colors in the terracotta and red family will also experience a comeback in the upcoming year

Red and pink hues are so striking that even Benjamin Moore, with their Color Trends 2024 palette featuring earthy Topaz and cheery Teacup roses, can't resist them.

5- Yellows and Oranges

In 2024, orange and yellow hues will be "it" colors. Electric Amber, our color of the year, perfectly captures the radiant splendor of these two hues, especially when combined. Electric amber is a warm and alluring color that looks great in jewelry, fabrics, and even plants.

isn't the only company observing the growing popularity of bright hues; HGTV Home designated Persimmon as their color of the year. Apricot Crush has been named the color of the year for 2024 by trend forecasters WGSN and Coloro, demonstrating how far this trend has extended throughout the fashion industry.

6- Earthy Greens

In 2024, mellow and approachable greens will still be in style. Most individuals find reassuring in the peaceful aspect evoked by the hues inspired by nature. The British firm Graham & Brown chose a midtown green called Viridis as their color of the year, drawing inspiration from this feeling of renewal and caring.

Deep greens are also expected to be popular in the coming year, along with earthy hues. The paint brand Dutch Boy picked Ironsides, a rich and cozy green, as their color of the year, demonstrating this shift to more subdued hues that exude sophistication.

7-Warming Neutrals

Warm off-whites and buttery tones are quickly becoming the new neutrals of choice for color gurus and designers as the trend continues to heat up. Paint manufacturers like Glidden and Sherwin-Williams, who selected the honey-forward hue Limitless as their color of the year, believe these hues will provide color palettes with a grounded yet energizing foundation.

Wadden goes on to say that lighting is one of the reasons warm neutrals are so popular right now among designers.
